死記硬背一直是大家吐槽的學習方法，因為它全部靠機械式記憶，所記憶的內容之間的耦合度低甚至是沒有，所以很難長時間保持記憶效果，但是對于臨時抱佛腳可能還有些許用處。

不過話說回來，死記硬背并不是一無是處的，有些記憶的內容找不到規律，那麼在規律被找研究出來之前只能靠死記硬背了，比如形容詞后面可以接什麼樣的介詞沒有規律可循，那麼就需要在記憶形容詞時，記憶與之配套的介詞，如 addicted to，content with 等等，例如：

那麼我們在英語中如何表達死記硬背呢？相信沒有人按字面來翻譯這個成語，不然又是死又是硬的，顯得不倫不類，就像我們不能把「不倫不類或非馬非驢」意為 neither horse nor donkey，地道的應該是 neither fish nor fowl。

其實英語中就有一個名詞 rote 就是死記硬背的意思，其英文解釋是：the process of learning sth by repeating it until you remember it rather than by understanding the meaning of it，此時常用于搭配 learn by rote，例如：

Learning by rote is the least efficient method of studying， though it might still prevail among most students， especially in India.

盡管死記硬背可能仍然在大多數學生中流行，特別是印度，但它是效率最低的學習方法。
