提到生病的英語，很多人可能首先會想到sick這個詞，比如「I feel sick」或「You look sick」。

但sick這個詞不能隨便亂用，不然老外聽了會誤解！

sick的多種用法

為什麼生病了不能隨便說 「sick」？先來看看下面這句話。

A：I feel sick. Where is the restroom？

如果將sick簡單理解成生病，這句話的翻譯就是「我生病了，廁所在哪里？」

這多少有些莫名其妙，生病和廁所有什麼關系？

詞典上的sick有以下幾種解釋。

adj. 厭惡的；病態的；惡心的；生病的

n. 病人；嘔吐物

vt. 嘔吐；追擊

另外，sick還可以表示瘋狂、精神有問題，所以問別人 「Are you sick」 的時候會很容易讓別人誤解。

因此，如果沒有上下文和具體語境，sick很容易產生歧義，讓人分不清想表達的到底是什麼意思。

而sick表示「生病」的時候經常用進行時：

Are you feeling sick？
